With the recent {Zaara} ethnic and footwear releases, we are very excited to have the focus of this contest to be on styling rather than just photography. Contest ends on June 13th 11:59pm SLT, three prizes will be awarded:

Mojris are traditional Indian footwear made from handcrafted leather, ranging from casual inlayed leather to intricate jewelled and embroidered styles.

The Ilaida Mojri is a casual chic style in textured leather and metallic lining in fresh colors, perfect for summer. The modern accents makes it ideal to pair with mostly anything. Its scripted to resize and the top is changeable between 12 colors and gold/silver options for the lining.

The Nizam collection

“Nizam” – a 11-piece Mughal “Jadau”-style set that is fit for royalty. The Mughals were an imperial group of Persian-influenced Muslims that assumed power over India, and brought their aesthetic ideals and highly skilled craftsmanship to the Indian Subcontinent in the 1500s.
This style of jewelry has been an inspiration in contemporary fashion with the likes of Gaultier and McQueen using it in their shows.

The head pieces in this set have been designed in collaboration with Onyx LeShelle of Maitreya who created the gorgeous hairstyles that fit with these jewels. The hair styles are available at the Maitreya mainstore as well as the Zaara store next to the jewelry vendor.

Details of individual pieces below:

Head jewels:
In 2 styles, an elaborate Head Jewel and a Mughal style 'Jhumar -Tikka' which goes across the side.

Necklaces:
A pearl choker with a central motif. Usually this style is accompanied by a more elaborate necklace, for this there are two options a long and layered and a shorter one thats closer to the neck.

Earrings and Nosering:
Traditional 'Jhumkas', are a bell shaped design typical of Indian jewelry.
'Nathni' or nose ring using a floral motif in stones and pearls.

Arm and feet Adornments :
A traditional 'Baju-bandh', worn on the upper arm features a traditional paisley motif.
Followed by the absolutely esssntial 'Choodiya' (bangles) in characteristic pearls and stones for the wrist, complimenting these both are the 'haath-phool' a kind of delicate hand jewel extending from the wrist to the fingers. And to end the set, anklets or 'payal' circling around the ankles ending with a toe ring.

The gift card system has been taken down across {Zaara} stores due to technical issues.
Gift cards that you may already have will be redeemed manually for Zaara items up to the 31st of March*.

To redeem your gift card please follow these steps:

1) Create a note card listing out the items you need (with prices preferably),
and the amount left on your card
2) Copy the notecard into the Zaara gift card folder
3) Modify the folder name to e.g: * Zaara Store Card : (your name here)
4) If the items you need exceeds the card limit, just pay me and send transaction log.

We decided to take a break for the month of February and are starting our March contest with a bang. We would love to see some creativity from you guys using some of our new releases. There is no theme, so just go crazy with those imaginations of yours.

EFA - Amsterdam International Fashion Week
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

In a cross platform event organised by Ewing fashion agency, panel of SL designers recreated SL versions of clothing for an RL designer featuring in the Amsterdam fashion week.

The challenge for the event was to create clothing within SL based on working photographs sent by the RL designer. The photographs I received were not what I expected, and I tried to make them work to the best of my ability - incorporating changes and 'zaaraness' wherever I could. I created a more fitted silhouette and added elements like flaps, buttons and tie-ups.

A long crinkled teeshirt with tie up details and a hint of red from a tank underneath... I shortened the length from the RL picture and worked the side into a tie to make it interesting.

Long dress with button flap details on the back. The RL dress looked too similar to the earlier 'Ravyn' ... I enhanced the red tank to a fuller undershirt, added buttons and flaps to keep it casual and retained the length

Casual short dress with button/flap details with a red tank to go under. A longer skirt is also included which is closer to the RL version. I made many changes in this.. enhancing the red tank beneath, creating a fold on the front and adding the buttons

At 11.00 AM SLT on the 26th of January 2009, the Ewing Fashion Agency will once again be joining forces with the Amsterdam-based real-world talent managers, The Artist Advice for another Second Life/Real World simultaneous fashion event. During the live fashion show at Beurs van Berlage (Amsterdam - The Netherlands), the Ewing Fashion Agency will host the Second Life version of the show at its Ischia sim location, where EGG Development will reproduce the venue of the show, The Beurs van Berlage.
Building on the success of last years First Fusion show, this year each event will be viewable to the other as they occur. The Real World creations of Real World designers Jennifer Delano, Melanie Brown and Eleonore de Ruuk are being recreated for the Second Life production by a talented lineup of Second Life designers: Digit Darkes, Neferia Abel, Sascha Frangilli, Simone Stern, Sysy Chapman and Zaara Kohime. In acknowledgement of significance of these innovative collaborations, Runway Magazine and DX Exchange have signed on as corporate sponsors for the event. Beside the fashion show, also the DJ will be presented in both world, Damien. S will be on stage in the Beurs van Berlage and at Ischia during the show.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you that came out to the sim opening party. As you can see from the picture it was packed and lagtastic!
{Zaara} completed one year on 2nd of Jan, from a small 10x10 prim shop to an entire Sim... it has been a crazy ride.

I'd like to thank Tesla Miles who offered me my 1st mainstore space... she must have a humongous heart to allow someone to build a store surrounded by elephants.

My fabulous friend/manager/grieving victim Strawberry Singh actually deserves a separate blog post because she is so quotable.... but on a serious note, she has been with me and by my store from the 2nd day I opened. And she thankfully never left and put up with me as we moved from strength to strength, giving me advice and just being there (though she eventually gets pushed off the sky box when she's not looking) <3

Soul Curry – New colors

Soul curry was the only outfit that wasn’t available more colors, so I’ve updated this item.
There are now two new colours- yellow + grey and green + dirty-pink.
As in the earlier version, it comes in multiple layering options as a dress, capris and shorts with 2 kind of prim attachments and a beige off shoulder tee. Possibly the most versatile outfit in store... :)

The Indian festival 'Dussera' is around the corner and it seems just right that I do a very traditional garba outfit. I have tried to keep it realistic to how its worn by gypsies in kutch/rajasthan/gujrat, with their natural dyed fabrics, a general mishmash of vibrant color with no effort to coordinate them, but somehow just falling into place.

It includes a wide bandhni dyed skirt, a tie n dye top, glitch pants, a veil and a sash tied across at the waist (to keep it out of the way while dancing :P )

I was often requested for the black dress I used in the 'Maitri' jacket ad, so I did a version and here it is :)

The Chaya dress is a distinctive piece in satin with motif detailing, available in 3 individual designs and colour palettes. It uses elements from Indian iconography such as peepal leaves, peacock feathers and lotuses, embroidered with see through net, available in black, plum and cream. The top can be paired with glitch panties and turned into a bathing suit

This dress is 100% handdrawn :D

I have always received requests for gifts etc, doing this manually just takes up time- mine and the customer's. So to make it easier for everyone here it is :)
Just purchase the card from the vendor in the store as u enter, its available as 250L$, 500L$, 1000L$ and 1500L$. Pay the vendor the amount, wear the card and START SHOPPING :D
(make sure u choose 'card' from the pie when u right click to buy anything).

If u over shoot the card limit u can just pay the sale prim the difference and the item right away.

Sorry about this, I have been having perm updating issues recently.
the Anjuna pant prims perms were erroneously no mod/no copy/ transfer, and should have been mod/copy/ no transfer
while i have updated all the sale prims in store, I have also sent out a group notice with the leg prims attached.
